OK so I have almost finished fitting my DIY dash but need a little confirmation on a couple of things:

I have 5 extra gauges, 4 small ones and a larger Rev counter:

Amp Meter

Vaccum Gauge

Oil Temp

Oil Pressure

I am currently wiring all the above up so that there bulbs illuminate. My plan is to take a feed from the bottom RH connector on the fuse box.

This is fitted with a 15 Amp Fuse.

I have nearly finished making up a loom for the instrument lighting but then thought I had better check. I am using cable rated for about 8Amps but this fuse connection is rated at 15 Amp do I need 15 Amp wire (surely not). My understanding is that the cable should be proportionate to the items that it is feeding.

Most of the gauge bulb are 12v 3w, that is a total of 15 Watts which according to my calcualtions:

Current = Watts / Volts = 1.25 Amps?

So my wire should be fine.

Do I need to fit another inline fuse close to the supply because I am stepping down the cable rating?

More in a mo :-)

The fuse is to protect the cable not the items its feeding, so if your cable is rated to 8amps you'll need to change the fuse to 8amp or less.

5amp fuse would be fine.

That's what I was thinking :-)
