Can anyone remember a uk tv series from around 1970s
about a man with a garage doing a mini up for racing
it was orange and in the last series he raced it

tried google cant find it

i remmember one where a woman went to get her mini fixed, and the mechanic was an ex racer, and ended up building her old mini into a racer. not sure if its the same one your thinking about

thanks for your help guys all i can find on the winning streak is a 70s quiz show

v8 thats the one :- just need to remember what its called now

i think the woman looked like sue johnson from brookside

would like to know myself, just cant think that far back, probably buried in the BBC archives some where.
sure it was a mini series (no pun intended) of about 4 episodes

thats the trouble searching for "mini" tv program
it might of been 6 or 8 episodes
i think he was called ken slark or larks garage
nearly ready to give up now but i would realy like to see it again

I remember this show when it first aired, but I thought it was first shown back in the early 1980's?

Anyway it did get re-shown on Sky many moons ago, probably on UKTVGold? :-

Well it's mentioned here & I was right about it being the early 1980's, but i'm sure it was the wife who had the driving ambition to race her Mini and it got modified and she won her class I believe?:-

Yep, that's correct - IIRC she finished fourth overall and was all upset at missing a podium when she was told she'd won her class. Race was won by the guy that was winning everything in a Firenza - shades of Gerry Marshall.

No idea how I remember it either, don't recall ever having seen a repeat. Must have made an impression on my twelve year old self - though not as big as the best telly from that year, the rather scary "The Mad Death"! :-
