Jdm Spi Coil Pack Order Confused

Best Answer Sprocket , 02 March 2017 - 10:16 PM

Rover manual is wrong, go figure.

In the main, if you look close enough at the triangular webs off of the screw mounting posts, you can see the numbers for the relevant cylinders which are in pairs 1/4 and 2/3. If you look at the bottom of the coil pack you will see the two distinct coils  which are (in the installed orientation) top and bottom, rather than left and right as depicted in the rover workshop manual.  It wont matter if plug lead 1 goes to plug 4 or plug lead 2 goes to plug 3, it's the same thing. that is what you are seeing in the two cars above

Seems their wire position are different, mine is like picture B, I am confused, are there different models of coil pack?

They're wasted spark so fire one side at a time (upper 2 then lower 2) rather than 4 individual times. They're the same product :)

Should leads 2 and 4 be switched? On my car its 2&3 on top, 1&4 at bottom.

I'm not 100% sure, chap. Would have to have a play. I had a similar issue when i first got my car and had to play with the leads until it ran on all 4
