From your first photo, it just simply didn't look tight enough.
The Trunnion Bolt has a should just where the thread finished. The have to be done up hard so that shoulder seats against the subframe. The rubbers will compress and bulge a bit.

Problem sorted, found the old trunnion bolts( never throw anything away ) as you can see in the pic the head thickness is maybe 2mm thicker on the new ones, not much but just enough to give me the clearance. Off to find a friend with a lathe.

Thankyou moke spider, i was just being a little to soft on the tightening side, i put a little muscle into it and tighten them until bolt shaft stopped on the inside part of subframe. All holes now line up and i have a small amount of clearance between trunnion head and guards.
