So I went out for a blast with the new dashboard, new stereo and the new spotties on :) Absolutely love it :)

....but I did have a little issue. As I dropped down into 2nd gear (clutch in), the traffic lights changed to green, but before I could release the clutch and start off again, the engine revved itself up, like to full power, screaming, and would not stop. I poked the gas pedal a few times, but nothing changed, put in neutral, still revving its t*ts off, so I pulled over, hit the hazzard, switched motor off and on again and it instantly was fine again....?

Is my clutch about to go, or is this a sticky throttle linkage or something else?

Any thoughts please folks?

Cheers!

if it was a carb car I would say sticky accelerator pedal or an air leak.

I recently had the battery disconnected for about 5 days. When I re-connected and tried to start (it didn't) I heard a tick, tick, tick coming from the round grey unit top-left of the motor. I don't think this is the stepper is it? After jumping it, it seemed to be fine, so I went for the afore-mentioned cruise....

the tick tick tick noise is the relay in the starter, it does this when the battery hasn't got enough power to fully turn it, any flatter and it would make no noise.

The reving is likely a separate issue, if you push the throttle on the carb does it spring back into place? the spring might have come off.

Yes, it stopped ticking after a while running. I will check the throttle set-up, but it reverted to all normal after I switched off the engine so I guess not a spring fallen off as it would not have worked after the switch off?

if it comes and goes then it's probably a sticky cable. Just noticed yours is an injection model so could be something like an air leak on the inlet, this will throw out the sensors and make it rev on it's own
