Hiya, I have a 91 mini neon with a dim/dip relay and I keep blowing side light fuses.

I can't find a short in the wires, i've disconnected the dim/dip switch which made no effect, i've replaced the pink relay and the light switch. I'm stumped - any ideas??

Is it possible to bypass the pink box and the dim/dip relay as older minis don't have them?

Cheers

Phil

A useful technique to find the cause of blowing fuses is to put a low wattage light bulb in place of the fuse, like a dome light, and then wiggle wires and whatever else until it flickers to locate the short.

I have had this issue, but with an MG Midget.

It was the last point i checked, which took 4 hours to locate. I started at the back, and moved forward and found it in the headlamp bowel.

On the inside of the headlamp bowl was a lip, and this was cutting into the sidelight positive wire, something as daft as that.

Of course it was the last place you checked: when you find it you stop looking! O_O
