Can anyone tell me if there are any 12" wheels that will fit underneath a mini with disc brakes that do not require any flares? Does it matter if metro turbo brakes are fitted?

IIRC all Minis that had 12" wheels fitted had the standard arches fitted.

Standard 12" steels were fitted to 1275GTs when the Dunlop Denovos were either not specified or replaced. They did not have arches.
true forgot about the 1275 GT not having them.

you can do without the arches on the 12inch minis if you stick to the standard wheels (steel and alloy).
its absolutely fine if you stick with the 145 tyres, not sure about 165's.
google the mini world project car called "Sheldon"

With later disc based hubs? You might need arches. As a generic question then like mentioned above the clubman ones fit to body so yes. I'm not sure what the width is of the clubman wheels mentioned but they were obviously running at a different time when it didn't matter
Nowadays in comparisions you are looking at the rover 4.5" steelies which are 50/50 to fit the 145 tyres on without it protruding the body or looking like some tyre that ate too much at xmas, the discs now just make it enough you might notice
The 165 tyres on the above 4.5" steelies protrude enough to notice without arches, you can notice it
The standard black plastic arches tuck them (165) under nicely for what its worth
The 12x5 mini based aftermarket alloys are therefore a definite no no without arches, they protrude the standard arches already, take them arches off and it will look off
Standard arches, rover 4.5 steels and 145 tyres
Standard arches, rover 4.5 steels and 165 tyres
Sorry best I got with standard arches and 12.5 aftermarket "minilite" alloys on 165, others will have a clearer image to show how much they protrude but you get the idea - its not a great look
All the above is based on standard disk brake hubs and rovers 4.5" steels running 12" tyres, calipers were the 8.4" alloy type from minispares which are based on the metro turbo ones so no worries on that front

So even the late model Cooper wheels from minispares in 12x4.5 would stick out with 145 tyres?
Yeah, same size as the earlier 12" steel wheels, with no arches on they will show, enough to notice

Here is my Grandson's 1997 Cooper MPI with standard alloy wheels, 165/60 x 12 tyres and no wheel arch extensions. It was fine and passed the MoT with no problems. It is no different than a Mk.1 Cooper 'S' with the then optional 4.5" wheels in terms of how far the wheels stick out.

Cooperman you wouldn't happen to have a more side on picture of your grandson's mini at all would you?
