Hiya all,

A friend has a ministox, brand new build at the start of the year, the issue we have is we need to lower the car 50mm whilst retaining standard suspension, any tips?

Just shorten the trumpets

Shorten the trumpets and/or get some very old cones. Instand hard suspension as well

It states in the link below that the suspension must remain standard, it doesn't say if we are allowed to cut trumpets or cones to get the car lowered.

One scrutineer(one of the ORCI board members) says we can, speak to another and they say no that isn't allowed....

best bet is to post up the regs for a read.

 

as there will be wording elsewhere that will allow or disallow what you want.

 

rules are fun and must be read in full and not just in isolation.

The regs say nothing about lowering. They clearly do allow increasing the ride height by using washers between knuckle joints and trumpets. Why do you need to lower it?

Rulebook states that the minimum ride height(from ground to underside of gutter) to be 1170mm, we are at 1220mm with used cones(which has helped but we need it to be lower(ideally 1170-1200mm))

The car has the lift and torque, but will not turn(fitting the used suspension all round has helped(did have all new cones, changed to used)

Ride height will be measured on the drivers side of the car, from
the ground to the underside of the roof gutter at the B pillar; it
must not be less than 1170mm at any time.

And

Suspension components must remain standard. Suspension cones and ball sockets must be fitted unmodified and must be identical. (Adjustment of ride height may be achieved by adding washers).

and finally

All suspension parts must be mounted in the original position and must not be attached to any additional ironwork.
All cars must have suspension movement up and down. No lowering allowed.


Now I can think of ways you could lower it that would still comply with the rules. But you would only be lowering by about 30mm
