1989 mini sky rose (originally)

2 pod dash, speed on the left fuel and temp on the right 

 

Tried a new sender in boiling water  

I have tested continuity from the sender plug, to the dash plug, all good lit my test light 
I have grounded the sender end with the ignition on (engine not running) gauge did not move to the hot position

My fuel gauge works so i do not think its a voltage stabilizer issue as from what i have read i believe if that fails both temp and fuel do not work? 

 

What is the next step? (other than getting a parts bin pod at the next show)

By the sounds of it, it'll be either the wire from the sender to the gauge or the gauge itself.

 

You'll need to remove the Instruments and with a meter, test the continuity of the wire from the sender to the plug on the back of the instruments.

 

More likely though, it will be the Printed Circuit on the back of the Instruments. It's a Plastic Film type that has Copper Tracks on it. The Tracks can crack and can be hard to spot.

 

If you can work out which track it is, you can test for continuity along it from where the plug goes in to the gauge itself.

I will test the printed circuit, there is no break in the wire from the sender to the plug so it must be the copper strip on the printed circuit or the gauge it's self

Let us know if you need a 2 clock PCB I have a set of 2 clocks here not in use with PCB and see you are south Lincs. We may not be too far apart.
