i am using a citreon berlingo and the steering wheel seems to be sticky, its your standard rubbry plastic steering wheel. does anyone have any good cleaning tips? so far i have given it a good wipe down with multisurface alcoholic wipes which have helped a lot and obviously going to do this again and then some interior dash cleaner too as long as it doesnt make it too slippery though, any other suggestions or tips?

Andy

I think its cillit bang grime and grease remover. Comes in a purple and green spray bottle, meant for kitchen surfaces.

Use it on all my cars when i first get them, really good at getting all grime off. On my last mini i cleaned my headlining with it and turns out it was white under the years of crap on it

I had the same on an old berlingo van,I reckon it's sticky because the rubber has perished. Get the same on bike handlebar grips after plenty of use!! Maybe get one of those crappy steering wheel covers

yes i do believe it is more likely due to being perished mainly due to being left out in the sun and baking itself but also know its not had a proper clean for a very long time if ever :/

well have cleaned again with flash degreaser as i did not have cilit bang so now the steering wheel is definitely clean and smelling lovely and lemony which has helped improve the aroma of the van too. next will be the interior trim cleaner.

well i have just gone over it again with interior cleaner, which is another degreaser, as well as doing the rest of the interior too so hopefully it should all be good now after a thorough clean and degrease and it seems to have done the trick

Autogrim trade interior cleaner not overly diluted with a fine nail scrub brush has always worked well for me.

Panel wipe off or tar remover is great stuff as long as you test on the surface first.

Isopropyl Alcohol is good, but as above test first, got a 1 litre bottle of eBay for a fiver

Great stuff, very like panel wipe but a better buzz. Bad hangover headache though.
