Part of the Time Shift TV series - 'Roof Racks and Hatchbacks', which traces the history of the family car.
"The family car. We grow up in the back seat - and before we know it, we find ourselves in the driving seat...
Timeshift explores the British experience of the family car, from the groundbreaking Morris Minor to the ubiquitous Ford Cortina, the Range Rover to the new Jaguar F-Pace. Not to mention their imported rivals, such as the Volkswagen Golf and the Volvo estate."

Includes sections on the Mini, Morris Minor as popular family cars in the 1960's and 70's, plus how the hierarchy of Ford Cortina badges appealed to suburban one-upmanship....a short clip on the Badge Envy here:-

I also liked the French & Saunders comedy sketch clip bringing the Chelsea Tractor 'four wheel drive SUV school-run arms race' to its natural conclusion with them driving a Bigfoot Monster truck and an army tank to take the kids safely to school....
