Can anyone please tell me how to replace the rubber boot on the rear trumpet knuckle joint.

Just replaced the shocks and the trumpet stuck in the doughnut and pulled the rubber boot off.

Thanks

Paul

Same as for the front pull down and over the lip of the cup. Rotate and repeat.

Thanks. Yeah, I can see what needs to be done, it's just very difficult lying down on your side and you can only get one hand in.

It's not easy to do in situ,..  I've managed it like nick say, clip a bit over the cup and turn it as you go.  They don't clip over very convincingly, but it's important to keep dirt out of the joint.

Keep at it!

Thanks, I'll have another go at it tonight.

I did think that the trailing arm needs to come off but seems a bit drastic just to get a rubber boot back on.

I use a small screwdriver under the boot to get started

As above, with a bit of grease or lube it's possible to rotate the rubber while the small screwdriver stays in position and gradually hooks the rubber over the lip of the cup. Usually requires a few attempts but it's not too bad.

Thanks guys, just needed confirmation that I wasn't missing anything obvious to make it easier.

Why not just replace the knuckle joint entirely? If you're replacing the suspension it's a good idea to swap out the knuckle joints as well. They're cheap and easy to replace.

Don't really need to change it.

What's happened is the rubber boot has popped off the joint whilst I was replacing the rear shock absorber.
