My indicators stopped working so I checked the fuse and the top fuse had popped so I replaced it, but it keeps popping, I can drive around for awhile without an issue but then they stop working, I have checked the wiring around the steering column and all seems fine, the hazard switch doesn't seem to light up I googled they are connected to the indicators...

Where should I start looking at the wiring before the hazard switch or after?

Any help would be great thanks

Car is a 1979 Clubman.

Does your car have reversing lights? I think so.

Check the clearance between the bottom of the gearlever and the exhaust pipe.  If they touch, the reverse light switch can short and blow the fuse.

Thanks for the quick reply, that may indeed be the problem, as they were working fine till I had to reverse out of my drive way.

Had a look today and yes looks like the plastic from the connector had worn away and was touching the exhaust pipe making it pop the fuse.

Many thanks for the help.

Just disconnect the wiring, you don't need reverse lights

Good! :highfive:

That's one I found out the hard way! I don't know if New Zealand roads even have many bumps like inner London speed humps, but if they do, you'll know where to look next time the fuse blows.
