Any ideas,

Bought myself a fantastic little 97 cooper s yeaterday, everything fine until tonight :'(

Turned the immobiliser off and the light went out, tried to start the car and nothing!! Tried bumping it still nothing.

I have noticed that the small red light on the dash blinks really quickly when alarm is set but turns off when key fob is pressed, I've tried letting the immobiliser turn on automatically, which then blinks in a regular rytham and then switching off, still no joy :'( VERY FUSTRATING

I've read through all the help on this excellent forum and in the hand book, but was wondering if anybody else had any ideas.

Thanks for any help that comes my way!!

I work for a Rover garage, well ex. This can be quite a common problem, try changing the batterys but i dont think this will work. The best this to do is take it to a rover garage as it seems like the key phob has de-activated its self. Now they will re-programme but personally i would get a new handset programed and the old one may be knackered and could go again. In the mean time you should have a code in the hand book to disable the immobliser, you need to put the key in the door and twist a certain combination. If you cant do this then the only other option is get it recovered to your local Rover garage.

Sorry its long winded but hope this helps.

Replace the batteries in your fobs and then press the smooth button four times to re sychronise the system.

If that then doesnt work, its a trip to a specialist with the service tools for the Rover/ Lucas alarm systems

I've also gone with pressing the fob 3 times rather than once or twice.
