Just a quick question,

Got to fit new hydraulic brake light switch, does it need a copper washer between it and the brake pipe union?

Depends where exactly you mean. The switch screws into what is effectively a banjo bolt. You don't need one there. But you do need one between the bolt and union that sits on top of the brake hose (with another washer between the union and hose).

yes. top and bottom and they are different sized.

There's an adaptor that screws through the Banjo fitting and that needs a copper washer under it, however, the switch itself which screws in to the adaptor is on a tapered thread and does not have a washer between it and the adaptor.
