Good morning people,

I did a bit of browsing the other day on eBay and came across a Brexton tea tray

Made me remember two items that a stranger gave to me a few years ago randomly when I was working on my car in the garage!

do anyone know anything about them and are they much of a collectors item?

anyone got ideas of age etc? I'm thinking they look 60s/70s and are a steel and plastic construction

I wonder if they are worth anything too as that Brexton tea tray sold for 209 pounds!!

Lawrence

There's a mini countryman that would look great with those in the boot somewhere! Brilliant.

Perfect for putting a Wimpy meal on parked up somewhere nice!

Classic car weekly would be your best bet to sell them and it's free too, I think you are more likely to find the right buyer there than here.

They were around in the 50s as I remember one in our car when I was a kid. there have been some on Ebay but did not sell and they were only a couple of quid.

My mate here says his dad has the same, just one in his beetle, paid about £3 for it at a show.

It would be about the correct vintage to go in a Mk 1, and would really look the part, but how would you use it with the sliding windows? I remember seeing these in use by a few people, but my Old Man made one out of thin plywood and used it in our Pop. We later had a different one in the Viva HA which somehow sat around the gear lever area, and I think it was modified a few times for other cars.

I have a couple of those, bought from an autojumble, and no they don't work with a mk1! Also have a couple of trays for back seat passengers that hook over the top of the front seats and they don't work either as the seats are too thin.
