Has anyone installed say a new Newton moulded carpet set and NOT used the under-felt kit (or similar kit)?  I am not a fan of that felt material that sits under carpet, but not sure if you need it with a new moulded kit - meaning the depth will be too low for carpet without felt.   Was going to use some sound deadening material as well, but not the felt.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience here?

I got a front Newton set few years back. The carpet came with like a thin foam already glued to the back of it, so I did not bother with any of the felt stuff. I did get the under bonnet stuff to surpress the noise a bit - the 4 kite shaped bits that get stuck to the underside of the bonnet.

It shouldn't make any difference whether you use the felt or not, to a moulded carpet. The felt will follow the undulations of the floor and raise it by the thickness of the felt in all areas. So the same shape is fitted to the underside of the moulded carpet.

Any one want to come and fit it for me??????
