Calling on all gods of the mini world 😆 Basically my mini has created a new fault, when i press the brake pedal while indicating it turns off all indicators and i have no brake lights. This doesn't happen all the time, very intermittent and very annoying. I thought it would just be a dodgey earth but if followed the loom back after the pedal switch and cannot find any issues. Doesnt happen if I disconnect the pedal switch. Any ideas would be welcome 👍

Have you checked for a short in the pedal switch?

Check the earths in the boot again, very carefully. It may not be that, but it is rather likely.

Plus 1 on tigers post. Check the earth's again in the boot. Had the same issue on mine and it was the driver rear light earth, whilst at a quick glance secure and clean closer examination revealed corrosion inside the spade terminal preventing a good connection.

Disconnecting the break switch will stop it happening as that is the circuit causing the fault.

Checked rear earths, doesn't seem to be an issue. If the earth was bad to the rear clusters, surely i wouldnt have any indicators, reverse light and so on at any point? And with it happening only when the brake is pressed wouldnt that indicate the feed for the brakes is shorting somewhere? Reluctant to give it to a garage, every time it goes to a garage it ends up with more problems 😂

I would suspect the fuse box if it is an 80s or 90s mini.  You may find that a voltage drop is causing this problem.  Get someone to check the voltage at the rear when your foot is on the brake pedal.

With a bad earth if the fault is on the brake light circuit even in the bulb holders then when the brakes are activated the brake light circuit,it will find another path and thats through the indicators or side lights, remove and clean all the connections and inspect inside the bulb holders, not forgetting the bullet connections on the tank side.

Was voltage drop causing the faulting and was at the fuse box so hats off to whoever suggested that 👍
