Ok, Since fitting my new reconditioned austin 1300gt engine, it has been running sweet. The differencial has the old crusifix style connectors to mark 1 driveshafts. The only issue is that my three branch manifold knocks off the manifold, on de-celeration. So, after purchasing a ultimate engine steady, ive managed to adjust the tilt of the engine so that ive cured the knock, But now 2nd gear jumps out and 4th gear doesnt seem like its engaging properly. Although they do both work to an extent.

All ive done recently is Using the new engine steady ive pulled the carbs closer to the bulkhead, moving the bottom of the engine closer to the front valance, 2nd and 4th gear obviously push the gear selector away from the gear-stick and as ive now increased the distance to the gear selector on the engine by changing the tilt, i can only assume that the issues im having over gears is due to my new engine tilt situation

I hope this makes sense.

Im just after some re-assurance that this sounds about right, because Im well-worried that the gearbox is knackered after spending proper loads on getting it re-conned, tomorrow im going to re-adjust the tilt on the engine back to normal, get the exhaust knock back but hopefully 2nd and 4th gear will work normally again.

Has anybody else had this issue? Do you think im right? some re-assurance would be greatly appreaciated.

Matt
