
Mpi Block With Sc 7 Port Head?

If so how did you retain the alternator mounting? There is a sensor in the area where the bracket mounts on a standard head.

I phoned him yesterday and he said it has been done a couple of times and people have fabricated their own brackets.
I also asked if there is enough meat around the bottom of the head to machine and tap the holes and apparently "there should be" lol but I don't fancy scraping a 7 port head though haha.
I just wondered if anyone on here has done it and wouldn't mind sharing

Only other way is a heavy duty fabricated alternator mount putting it in the MPi position.

No wait ... if you are using the early type location for the alternator you have to move the rad too, yeah I think that's probably closer to what you said lol I get you now

It depends on what type of throttle bodies you're using. You won't fit a front radiator with the SC throttle bodies and ram pipes and filters.Hi Midas,

Things to consider.
How can you mount the alternator in the same position as the MPi when the 7 port inlet and throttle bodies are also on the front of the head?
If you mount the alternator lower down in the original position prior to MPi, you need to resolve the radiator clearance issue.
You could run a small Denso alternator, but it with either be expensive for a 100amp one, or very cheap for a 45amp one that might not be enough for the car depending on 'originality'. may still struggle with clearance on the front mount rad.
You could always run a side mount rad.
you might need to change the water pump depending on your alternator bracketry.
You can drill and tap the 'blank' bosses on the front of the block to fix a custom made bracket in almost the same location as an A+ block.
To be honest, the MPi bracketry is cumbersome, and the side mount rad is not as bad as many make out.

MPi engine is mounted further forward due to the frame, which makes it even worse.

chap I know has a K head on an MPI block and had the same issue, managed to get the MPI rad in my mounting it at an angle but ut wasnt nice, he was looking at moving the alternator to the back above the exhaust where SC mount their supercharger.

It's not looking too promising is it?
Might just stick with the upgraded throttle body kit for now then and just get a standard head ported.

Mine has no problem keeping cool and I've got 108bhp and 83lbs of torque at the wheels. Now you've suggested it you can't go back!Hahaha I regret asking now... I'm going to get peer pressured in to it by highly bias Mini owners haha.

No it's an A+ block but the block shouldn't make any difference. I've got the full SC head, throttle bodies, ram pipes and engine management. I've got Calver 72.5mm pistons giving 1342cc and a Calver cam. The torque (from 2750 revs through to 7250 revs) more the the bhp gives great drivabiltyAre you running an MPI block as well Northerpower?
