Sorry for the slightly naff topic, but this is driving me nuts. Basically my drivers side washer jet keeps blocking, I sort it and it does it again, whilst the passenger side is always fine. The driver's side is always weaker than the passenger side, but the it's the blocking that really is a problem. I have had various jets on it, and they've all been the same, even the one that is currently on the passenger side. From the bottle (in the boot) I have a none return valve, then the pipe through the car to a T piece and then the jets.  Am I missing anything in the system? Any ideas why the drivers side is weaker & blocks?

I've been thinking of fitting a fuel filter in the line to see if I can catch whatever it is that's blocking before it gets to the jet. Any thoughts on this?

Again sorry for the naff topic, but my sanity, especially at MOT time, depends on it :shy:

A paper based fuel filter will swell up and block all water flow.

Just wondering is there's some corrosion / crude in the hose that seems to settle in the diver's side?

Maybe blow out with air or replace the under bonnet hosing. I'm not sure what is fitted as standard but try rubber hose. I have better success with that than PVC.

It may also nee a bit of 'pinching down' on the hose to the passenger's side.

Also, perhaps rater than use tap water, try distilled water. Tap Water is usually acidic.

You could also fit 2 auxiliary pumps in the engine bay, one for each jet. I find with these long hosed set ups, the pumps struggle with them.

You've probably got some residual crud in the line past the T piece or the n/s jet has been aggressively unblocked at some stage  meaning the actual jet hole is bigger and hence less pressure from the pump required for a very healthy squirt there... robbing the o/s...

Thanks. The hose was replaced shortly after buying the car, I used silicone. I agree on the pump struggling, have tried to source a stronger one, but not found anything.

I had a similar problem on my daily driver Peugeot 306 and there was algae in the bottom of the washer bottle that was getting pumped up and getting caught in the jets. I took it off a couple of times scrubbed it out before it eventually stopped happening. The t-piece is clear?

I used some biological washing powder to clean the inside of the washer bottle. It had been left half full in the back of the garage for five years so there was a nice growth going on - two spoons full of Ariel and hot water left for a day had it came up like new inside so hopefully no block jets

Thanks for the replies guys. I have washed the bottle thoroughly, changed the pipe, jets & as far as I can recall the NRV. I think I may have to clean the whole system again. I just can't think of any thing else to do. It's funny, given the number of big jobs to do, how it's the little things that peck your head.
