Could someone please explain what this is for please, just sitting under the bonnet with wiring attached, many thanks

Year and model of car etc may help.

Looking at it it looks like the alarm diagnostic socket do you also have one nearby that is black in colour?


If so the black socked is the diagnostic socket that you would plug in diagnostic tools such as the Sykes Picavant ACR tool.

If so the black socked is the diagnostic socket that you would plug in diagnostic tools such as the Sykes Picavant ACR tool.

No other socket that I can see,maybe in it's past it had an alarm fitted, there are switches on the bonnet and boot lid

As above, the green plug with a rubber cover is the alarm diagnostic plug.  

 

Towards the throttle body and airfilter you'll likely find another white one with the same rubber cover. As mentioned above this is the ECU diagnostic port.

There is no ECU this is the Carb version
