I bought the first line one the last pump I fitted.... Still good

Avoid the plastic or non cast impellers(these are known faults on Focus and Fiestas) as they're unreliable

It may be a fault on Focus and Fiestas but how can you apply that to the MiniSpares EVO pump? MiniSpares are so confident in it they give it a three-year guarantee. Having seen the video of it under test where it runs at 11,000 spindle revs with no cavitation, what part fails?

Do you have the link to this video? as i've currently been considering the EVO pump
No, I viewed it in the York shop on Richy's computer. Why don't you email them to see if they'll put it in the public domain? I'm sure quite a few people will be interested.

The impeller loses grip on the shaft, which overheats the motor
You seem to have missed my response which was on the previous page, I thought I'd post it again "So, you're saying you have direct knowledge and or experience of the MiniSpares EVO water pump failing by the impeller losing grip on the shaft?"

So given the three-year guarantee, I assume they were replaced free of charge, what did MiniSpares say about so many failures?

They were indeed replaced, iirc one member had a couple of failures(must have bought pumps for two cars in the same transaction?)

Most new cars have pumps with plastic impellers ... and most last several years. It's not the fact it is plastic, but the quality of the parts and build process.

I'm surprised you decided to condemn the MiniSpares Evo water pump on the basis of the information you supplied. You advised not to purchase this type of pump on the basis of it being faulty with two completely unrelated different motor manufacturers and indirect hearsay information from supposed club members ( and according to you even they had them replaced.) These are very tenuous connections by any standard.

I have no connection with MiniSpares (other than being a customer) but if I were them I would take a very dim view of someone on a public forum making unfounded defamatory remarks about one of their products. As someone who has been in business for over 40 years I find it sad that an anonymous member of the public can make a statement on a well respected public forum and present unfounded and in your case unrelated comments as fact.

I have no problem with people expressing opinions and it can lead to healthy debate. You have had no direct involvement in the MiniSpares Evo water pump failures therefore all you are doing is expressing an opinion. In future given today's litigious society I suggest you make it abundantly clear your unfounded comments are an opinion and not based on a first hand account of the FACTS.

I have no intention of commenting further on this matter for three reasons, firstly, I think I have been very succinct in my response, secondly, I have no interest in it degenerating into a slanging match and thirdly, this is a long way from the OP's  original post.
