Following on from the crap quality of a lot of aftermarket parts at them moment.

Annoyingly after only recently (last month or so) having replaced my heater matrix, heater hoses, top and bottom hoses and flushed out the radiator, my water pump has now decided to pick the time to start squealing. It might also be weeping, but nothing that's causing any immediate issues and the level isn't dropping.

But as most mini suppliers tend not to tell you who and where there parts are from, I've found three locally for about the same prices.

Fahren branded for £18.49

Circoil branded for £20.49

And

Firstline branded for £38.49.

Out of the three, I'm tempted by the middle one, but the only make I have heard of out of the three is First line. And all a google search brings up is the plastic vs metal debate, witch isn't an issue (I've yet to see a plastic impeller water pump for a mini).

Get one from minispares, I fitted one of their evo pumps as part of a major engine rebuild last year. Good price and no quality issues.

There's always one smart arse. But then I'm looking at standard water pumps for a standard 998, not recently introduced hi flow plastic ones from minispares.

I'd also prefer to get one locally, all three of those are on the shelf ready to collect. As the mini is also a daily, so I can't have it sitting waiting for a new pump to arrive.

i have no info on the ones you mentioned.

the one i bought from Minispares works very well.

have a read of the info on Minispares pages about the different types of pump then have a look at what you are being offered and see what suits best.

not not all will fit a 998 as IIRC the spacing is slightly different.

Can't comment on the Pumps that the OP has posted.

I've had these on all the cars for a long time and very happy with them

They also do a version of the same pump with a by-pass if you need to go that way.

I have bought an EVO Pump to try (as they weren't available when I bought the others).

I think it was only the earlier (from the 60's, early 70's) that this was a problem on.

I bought the first line one the last pump I fitted.... Still good

Avoid the plastic or non cast impellers(these are known faults on Focus and Fiestas) as they're unreliable

It may be a fault on Focus and Fiestas but how can you apply that to the MiniSpares EVO pump? MiniSpares are so confident in it they give it a three-year guarantee. Having seen the video of it under test where it runs at 11,000 spindle revs with no cavitation, what part fails?

The impeller loses grip on the shaft, which overheats the motor

So, you're saying you have direct knowledge and or experience of the MiniSpares EVO water pump failing by the impeller losing grip on the shaft?

Do you have the link to this video? as i've currently been considering the EVO pump
