Thanks for the advice all, will now add a little vinegar to my washer bottle for starters. The blades are new, and I do wipe them when cleaning the car, though haven't yet tried the vinegar.
Am glad I did not order Tex wing mirrors after reading about their basic quality, thanks for that info, will def bear in mind when ordering shiny bits. I ordered Mountneys, which I know from years ago, are generally pretty good. They're also a perfect match for what's on there already, so no problems with holes in wrong place, or currently hidden paint (therefore brighter) showing where it shouldn't be.
Am about to order the chrome bezel covers for wipers, (I have a bad case of shinyitis) so will fiddle about with grease then. In the meantime, I've bent the ends of the blades outwards (making them flatter) as they seemed too curved for the screen, the ends cleared, but the middle just smeared uselessly. When testing discovered passenger washer no longer functions, so off to find a needle to poke down it. Maybe I'll get the stainless twin washers, so if one blocks, maybe the other will keep squirting? Hope springs eternal! If this fails, I'll get the ones recommended, thanks again
