Just had the heater valve explode and empty all the water. It was new done hardly any driving.
I bought it a few years back which looks like was when the crap ones hit the market.

Has anyone had success with the minispares current one with MSC stamped on them.
I don't want to fit another if they are still suspect.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I read something about a tap type valve that's manually operated under the bonnet. Assuming they're not prone to failure I'm tempted to fit one of them.

The new design is much better, with a deeper crimp to hold better

I've just ordered one through mini spares so I'll keep an eye on it. The one I need is for '96 spi.

I'm sure that's an inline plastic type?

Are the inline type a better product. I see DSN does an elbow which is 5/8 and also a 1/2 inch to 5/8 bulkhead adaptor
This would let me change to an inline valve.

I posted the same topic in chat yesterday - my MiniSpares angled valve went with only 2500 miles on it. If the problem is still widespread perhaps we should gather data regarding frequency of failure and make a joint representation to the suppliers?

could an actuating lever be brazed to that and operated by the push/pull cable?

It's a tap so you wouldn't get much movement with a linkage. But opening the bonnet to turn it off and on for winter and summer wouldn't be too arduous ;D

Are you talking about the one in link previous post which is a plastic valve fitted halfway along the hose?
