Hi,

I'm busy with building a mini and have mounted an coil spring conversion kit with hi-lo's from Huddersfield Spares.

I have put everything where it suppose to be, but when I lift the car the coil springs are jumping out of the seat at the top of the subframe.

When I put the mini on the ground after lifting, the coil springs are skewed in the subframe.

Does someone have a solution for this problem? Or is there a special kit available to fasten the coil springs, so they aren't go skew anymore?

I hope you guys know what I mean.

Thanks in advance.

Ingmar

Yes, I have them on the lowest setting, but I want to go as low as possible.

When I set the hi-lo's higher I am not satisfied with the space between the wheels and the wheelarches.

I actually want even lower....

Although I do not think that's possible :(

The mini has to be built up further, so there will be some more weight on the springs.

But I don't know if that has so much influence on it.

The engine is already in it.

The body have to get sprayed, so the doors, interior etc. aren't in it yet.

I now have cut out the front fenders for the 13 inch (7J) wheels and have to be sure the tires aren't touching the fenders when the car drives thru hole or a bump in the road wth maximal steering

bin them and fit rubber cones as you don't need to worry about them being loose.

just a thought I bet you have not fitted 1/8" spacers under the rebound buffers. if they are even still there.

well just throw away the springs and put wood blocks in place of the bump rubbers to the required height or rather lowness.

Nothing to do with the coil springs. Your rebound buffers will be missing. I have a track mini on coil springs wich has 2fingers between the sump and the asfalt. No problems with the springs skewering

No, I haven't got the rebound buffers between it.

Will that solve the problem?  And do I need the 1/8'' spacers too?

I think when the car is on the ground the springs won't skew, unless you go flying over bumps, but If the mini gets lifted it will be nice if they stay on it's place.

Do you also had to cut out the rear panels to get this low?

I now have got about 1 inch space between the rear panels and the tires, so I intend to cut out the rear panels so there is enough space and the tires won't hit the edge of the rear panels.

I have fitted the medium stiffness coil springs, so the suspension would go up and down.

On the rear I have coilovers on a beamaxle but yes Its cut quite hard. Mind, its a car only used for a specific competition (slalom, similar to autotest)received_914662988601895_zpsihh6qi3w.jpe

The mini which i'm working on has to be road legal, but must be able to do good things on the racetrack.

I found these. http://www.minimania...-Rebound-Buffer

I think this will solve the problem.

Can anybody confirm that or has anybody experience with these oversized rebound buffers?
