Does anyone know if the estate/van fuel tank has a filter on the end of the pick up in the tank?
The reason I am asking is I keep loosing fuel pressure after about 15 miles.
I have changed the fuel pump ( electric in line ) and have taken the pressure Reg apart to see if it was sticking but that is fine.
There is an earth straight from the pump to the battery and I have an led on the power to the pump which stays on when the pressure drops. So the last thing I can think of is the pick up getting blocked.

Thanks in advance

I think so, couldn't say for sure. Another possibility is insufficient venting, it's all via the filler cap on a van tank.

you do have a vented filler cap fitted?

I would be running with one of those plastic lost cap caps that definatly vents to see if the problem goes. if it does then you have the problem found if it does not then you need to go further.

if there is a filter in the tank it is not a service part.

There is a fine mesh nylon sock over the end of the pickup tube.

When my buddy started having a similar problem we sent one of those inexpensive bore scopes down the tank filler....what we found was someone has "sealed" the tank with a product that didn't work very well and large pieces had peeled off and would block the pickup tube, they looked like pieced of latex paint peeled off a wall.

He bought a new SS tank, as the repair cost to take the tank apart, clean all the old sealer off and reseal the tank was almost as much.

An alternative fix I've seen either on TMF, or possibly Turbominis, someone made an oval adapter plate with a clamping ring to fit a submerged pump like on the injection saloons. Being oval allowed the short diameter to pass through the long diameter of a matching hole cut in the tank. If you fancy giving that a go locate the baffles in the tank so your pump misses them.

oh no they are not. there is a separate vent on the top of the tank.

oh I was on about the original style caps.

Thanks for all the replies and advice.
I will be removing the sender unit and having a look at the filter on the end of the pick up. I will let you know how I get on.
