Ok, To summarise. I have a removeable front end on my clubman. The sides are held in place by two metal spring hooks on each side mounted on the inside of the front so they can't be seen.

The front will be locked in place by Locking Bonnet pins, they're great, and should do the trick nicely, However...... The pins are not load bearing, so, I need to come up with a way to support the front, and then the locking bonnet pins will secure it.

So I was thinking.... how can I do this?.. I need to have a way of locating the front end so that I can then lock it on.

The best I could come up with was the followin shown in picture A bit Of stainless steel box section bolted the the front subby either side. and then a Bump stop bolted on to the ffibreglass front, pointing inwards, The bump stop would locate in the Box section thast's attatched to the front subby (with a snug fit hopefully...) and support the weight of the front whilst I lock it in position.

What do you think?... how can I improve this?... any BETTER ideas??

oh sorry admin! sorry about the triple post, not sure what happened?!

its a nice simple idea. don't overthink it too much. then it will end up being too complex.

so front will have two pegs then some boxsection on the sub to make a hold. plont the peg in the hole then the pins hold the bonnet on while the peg's take care of the up down left to right forces. right?

so whats the problem?

You could use the kind of locaters they use on van sliding side doors. They're basically the same thing as in your pic.

Cheers Big ad,.... It has to be simple really or it might foul the engine etc, and has to be easy to make too.

What about these sliding door latch things you're on about?... i don't quite understand..........
