I have attached a picture of the underside of the cylinder head. Does it tell if it's leaded or unleaded?

yup you need to see what valve guides are fitted, these are underneath the valve head on the picture.

Here is an updated picture with the valve taken out. It appears it's got a valve seat thats happens to slide out easily!!! yes it slides out! Besides a cracked valve, heres another problem! I'm guessing it's definately an unleaded head now?.... Whats the easiest way to get that valve seat to lock in place?

fit it properly, which obviously that hasn't...

I assume, never had one done, but the seats are machine out just smaller than the insert, which is then cooled (maybe using nitrogen) so it's then dropped in and allowed to expand to make an interferance fit with the head.

Just imaging that popping out with your engine running ;D

Is this the 12G202 from the other thread? If it is, definitely take it back to the garage and get them to sort things properly.

I'd take it back, get your money back and never go near that place ever again! That could of cost you your engine!

Crikey mate! That's quite impressive, Iv'e never seen that happen before! hmmmm, I would check all the others too buddy, and even when the garage has sorted it, (which they bleedin' well should) I'd do a full strip, Lap the valves in, Decoke and degrease the entire head etc.

No such thing as being too careful (unless you're a 70yr old women in a Daihatsu Matiz doing 15mph in a 40zone....... weve all been there)

No, this is not ther 12G202 from the other thread. I returned that one.

As for this head; this is the original one I had for the car. Just wondering if anyone had anything solutions to securing the seat. The easy way I was thinking of using a punch to put divits radially around the inside of the "hole" in which the seat sits. Punched divits have raised edges so I figured that might hold it? That or I machine the hole bigger than make a collar to fit between the hole and the valve seat; give the pieces like a 1-2thou fit and then press it in on the arbor press (much more difficult and time consuming). I left it with a buddy of mine to consult with a mentor from the machine shop.

I think this should go in the FAQ section as it's a great way of showing where to look with those photos...helped me no end.

I was trying to imagine how I'd check it, but struggling. The pics above make it a lot easier.

check all the others for the same starting to happen!! this is probably you're original problem!! i vaguely remeber u saying a valve was getting stuck!! scoring it up and tapping it in will hold it for about 5 minits i rekon but it will come loose again and no telling what damage it could do if it doesnt seat properly - pistons and valves having an intimate conversation!!!!!! try getting new inserts fitted but properly this time!

Too late!!!... It's already been put in! And I can't pull it out!.... God damn it!

Meanwhile my starter motor is done for. Cruddy mechanic that did my safety cert didn't know what a choke was; cranked the key till the engine ran. Gonna replace the brushes and it should work again...
