Hi all,

Forgive my noobish question here, but I'm having a hard time trying to find a good complete set of tools that will do the majority of things.

I understand that minis use imperial measurements, but I'm not quite understanding what AF really means.

For example, I found this set at Halfords (here) but I'm not sure if most of those tools will end up useless for a Mini?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Jack

AF stands for across flats, i.e. the distance across the flats of a nut or bolt and hence the spanner size you would need. It is distinct from the thread of the nut or bolt, for example a bolt with a 5/16" thread would typicaĺy be 1/2" AF on a mini, but can also be 7/16" AF. As you have identified you will need primarily imperial sizes of sockets and spanners. There are also a few sockets that you will need on a mini that wouldn't be in a standard set, namely 1 5/16" and 1 1/2"
