Anyone know what material the carb spacers are made from?

can have them out of alloy as well ,but not a clue what the black stuff is

Phenolic seems to pop up when you search for carb spacers to be fair. Think you're probably right Nick.

They are a bit like the old bakelite material, but yes, known as Phenolic Spacers, early models of cars used aluminium spacers

 

I stock them,  item number 112310973288 on a well known site

Phelonic is correct. Far better than using aluminium as phenolic forms a thermal barrier isolating the carb from the heat of the manifold to some degree.

also used in some brake calipers as Piston material. (not car as far as I know).
