Hello I've got a suspected head gasket issue.
My question is which head gasket is best to buy? And where from? Is there an uprated one which is best?

Fairly standard carbed 1275 63hp.

Any help or advice very much appreciated :)

You might be better getting a complete head gasket set, as you will be disturbing the rocker cover and inlet/exhaust manifolds whist removing the head. Also I believe the below has superseded the bk450 Mini 13 recommended.
GUG702560HG (Mini Spare part no.)

The AF470 which slidehammer metioned above has a black sealing ring for the oil feed.

The BK450 is recommended for performance engines and 8 port alloy heads where you should not have the rocker feed sealing ring which can cause problems.

For me it's the BK450.

This is worth reading http://www.calverst....asket-problems/ if you're not too familiar with the vagaries of the A series head gaskets and studs.

BK450 is the one you need.

I use the bk450 on my supercharged racer, 17 psi 167hp at the wheels, touch wood had no issues.

When the engine was first built buy a uk self proclaimed race engine expert he insisted on one of the

STEEL SHIM HEAD GASKET 3 layer.

at a cost of £90

when this engine unit went pop due to a poorly manufactured gearbox, on the strip down I found the gasket had failed on 2 layers.

hard to believe as it then was only producing 8.8psi and c/r was poorly calculated at 7.8 I seem to recall.

factory items are hard to beat.
