Hi folks,

Lost some power and heard some rattling in my late 96 MPI Austin Mini Cooper.

Mechanic said the Cat is goosed so I'm looking for a new one.

I thought this one should be OK: http://www.minispare...sic/RV8009.aspx

but mechanic reckons it's this one: https://www.minispor...ni-1990-01.html

Can anyone help?

Some pictures from the under carriage if it helps: http://imgur.com/a/DdrJW

They're both the same, if you become a TMF+ member you'll be able to get discounts from various suppliers including 7.5% from MiniSpares and it supports the forum as well. It only costs £5

That's good to know, I'll look into signing up, thanks.

Cool, so either of those will fit? Any advantages/disadvantages to either?

Might be worth a wanted (which you can post once TMF+) which maybe cheaper. I wouldn't buy anything from minisport but that's just my view YMMV

Just my personal experience, I wouldn't use Mini Sport.

I was a MiniSport customer for a while, when I first got my mini. Saw the beef on the forum from some of the more experienced members. I put it down to old fogies set in their ways. I thought that until I got a few naff parts that weren't exactly labelled as naff parts.

Minispares, at least, if they stock naff parts you can feel the seething sarcasm in the description for said naff parts and they outright state they are "non-genuine" (aka naff) and provide links to the proper pieces.

Overall, I find it's easier to decide on the price/performance/reliability trade off on minispares simply because they are seemingly more honest in the description of parts, which minisport decidedly are not.
