So basically long story short, in the near future i will be putting discs on but for now sticking to drums and replacing all the front brake pipes (single brake system) which is simple enough.

What i will want when i have callipers on (from subframe to calliper) will be braided hoses however, some sites have suggested they are the same length as the drum brake (from subframe to drum brakes)

and others not. i need some clarity on this.

as it would be nice to put braided hoses on now then when i get to putting on callipers i haven't got to change said hoses.

found these two but they look identical sizes? hmm

 hopefully that makes sense lol

if anyone knows of a kit for a single brake system please let me know :)

as googe-ling and eBay-ing are not straight forward as some companies are calling them different things etc.

Mine is a single brake system mk2. like my 1972 mk2 clubman i did the same, but the difference was I was in store at mini spares so easier to know whether they were correct lengths etc but I'm holiday atm and when i get back I've got a weekend and 4 weeknights to,

take the engine out

strip the engine bay

replace everything in the engine bay itself

rebuild the front brakes

rub down and respray the engine bay

strip the engine replace head gasket, gearbox seal and some other bits

so yea want to order the stuff so when i get back its all ready :)

thanks!!

hegnirst :)

the front flexy hoses are longer for a disc set up, most braided say use the same for either and provide the longer ones.

For years we could only get one length of hose locally.

There was a change in lengths for the Drum Brake fitted models when they went from the MKI to MKII models to allow for an increased steering angle that came with the new rack, however, the Disc Braked cars retained the shorter hose.

You can use the longer hose, just check it doesn't rub on the tie bar.

Damn i was always under the impression that the disc hoses were longer as the caliper port was further away.  another learning day.

this is my point exactly, two opinions, again, rightly so, both adequately backed up by facts, confusing stuff lol
