Hi all I recently got a mini yay. It has been modified and was used for racing so its basicly an empty shell and im convering it back to a more road friendly mini so basicly need to fit everything back inside the car lol.

I have got some new lockable door/boot handles as the ones on it has no locks so i need to swap them over but i dont know how to do it. can anyone offer me any advice on what to do?

The doors dont have any insides and just have a basic plastic windows you just pull up and down but i dont know how to remove them so i can get to the screws that hold the handles on etc.

If anyone can offer me some advice that would be great.

Kind regards & best wishes

Steve ;D

I'm sure standard handles are held in with 2 screws/bolts on the inside and a c clip on the small rod connecting to the latch mechanism.

well that all depends on how the widow has been fitted.

is there a inner door skin? remove that and look.

on Race cars there is no standard way of doing things so pictures will be needed if you have no idea,

no door cards and half the inner door skin has been removed and a standard shape plastic windows put in there that are just held in place with two screws.

but as they sit infront of the handle screws i need to take them out so can get to the handle bits. Id take a pic but i broke my mobile at work the other day and waiting to get the stupid thing fixed grrr

Kind regards

if there is no inner skin then remove the lock mechanism and then you can get to the handle if one of the screws is hidden.

quite simple really.

the plastic is the windows up or down they sat in the way of the screws to the handles so had to remove them to get at them ;-)
