now this may be a realy stupid question but after getting my mini a few weeks ago its been set up as a racing mini so no insides apart from the cbra seats.

I need to convert it back to a more family type mini so will be fitting all round seat belts and getting a back seat put back in but the cobras dont tilt so cant get to the back. I have just got a new tilt frame that will fit the cobras but there is nothing for me to lock it to the floor in the car. The frame has the pull out locking part, What i need to know is what bit do i need to get for it to lock it down in place in the car? Is it them seat lock Bars i need for the catch to sit under holding it down? Not sure of what that part is named?

The reason i ask is from what i can see in the mini there are no holes for the bars to go in? If thats what i need. so im a bit stumped.

sorry if its a silly question but im not a mechanic of know much about this sort of stuff. If anyone can advise me it would be a big help.

Kind regards

Steve ;-)

The later cars had them to lock the seats to the floor. The earlier cars didn't, and the seats weren't locked down and could tilt (and you didn't have seatbelts!)

If you install these locking bars, I think some decent sized spacer plates under the car would be a good idea to spread the load too.

if you have buckets you will be wanting to bolt them to the floor so they dont move.  if you want rear seat access i would change one of the buckets or both. as normally when a bucket seat is fitted there is zero legroom in the rear.

I had cobra seats in my other mini and was fine room wise. its mainly for picking my kids up for weekends so dont need to worry too much about leg room. pluss im so short i have the seat as far forward as it will go when driving as i cant reach the peddles so there is enough room to squeeze one in the back lol.

Ive asked a friend who builds minis and hes sending me the bits i need to lock them down. when thats done i need to save some pennies to get a back seat and seat belts all round then should be good to go...pick the kids up anyways. They have been nagging when will they get to go in the mini. think they will soon change there minds when they relise how much of a bumpy loud ride it will be in the mini go cart lmao

best wishes

Steve ;-)

not a good idea to use standard belts with bucket seats as the belt will not hold you in the seat.
