Okay first I have done a search and couldn't find anything on this... probably me being thick.

I have an 1100cc A series engine with bent and dodgy (someone has cross threaded in the past) exhaust/inlet Manifold studs. What is the best method of removing them and fitting new ones?

This is for a 1979 Austin/Morris mini 1100 special engine.

Thanks in advance:)

If you haven't got enough thread for the above method, get a left hand drill bit and drill out the stud ( drill running backwards obviously)
You would be surprised how many studs/ sheared bolts will come out like this

I always use 5/16" UNF x 1.25" long hex. head screws to fit the manifolds. This way it is easy to remove the head should that be necessary.

This is what I've done, following Cooperman's advice. However, I found 1.25" to be slightly too long so I had to use 1" screws.

Sometimes heat is needed as they can be very tight!
