Car has been sat for 5 years and last running 18 months ago.

New plugs, points, cap, arm, and coil.

Plenty of fuel coming up through the line (disconnected at the carb), taken carb off and cleaned. Float moves fine and you can blow through no issues.

Car is spitting but not firing, plenty of spark. Have turned the dizzy and it doesn't get any better or worse.

Any help appreciated

Thanks!

How fresh is the fuel? Is the carb gummed up with stale fuel?

Thanks for your response.
I put £10 worth of fuel in this morning and had the carb off and the float bowl cover off and used half a tin of carb cleaner. I sprayed in every hole and all seemed clear. The dash pot has oil and moves freely.
Everything seems to want to fire but it just won't go.

Is fuel definitely getting through to the plugs - are they wet when you've been cranking it for a while?

If the car has been laid up for a long period the oil will have drained off the bores. Remove the plugs and put a little engine oil into the cylinders. Spin the engine over a few turns then refit the plugs. Set the static timing to specification, ensure all service settings are reset, check the air cleaner condition and the choke operates. If you have access to a cylinder compression gauge you can check the compression before you start putting any oil in the bores then after to see if it made any difference. It is always good to find the reason for the non starting.

If you have a spark, fuel and compression the motor should fire up and run.

I hope this puts you on the right track.

Cheers    Ian
