Or you could try and find an existing unleaded head, usually can be had for £50-£100, and then again, the cost of removing and putting a head back on and a gasket.

1 bottle valvemaster is about 12 quid now, which treats 250 litres of fuel, so you'd need to use say 2500 litres (550 gallons) of fuel before you're even starting to recoup the cost of conversion.. That's a very conservative 20k miles.
The cost of conversion as you have rightly said is one of convenience, not economics.

I've got the chance of an unleaded 998cc head. Is it just a straight swap to change it over? Taking the head off & refitting it is no problem, but I'm just concerned that it might not match my engine. are there a lot of variations in 998cc engines?
Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks

Straight swap. BLAHAHA. If it's like El Gordo it will fight you all the way till your done. But apart from the car fighting it's straight forward, don't know about 998 variants.

only things that work are an additive like Castrol Valvemaster etc or getting hardened valve seats put in.
