First of all I am running the mg metro cam in my 1275 which I realy do like. Now I read that the newer cams are better. Does that mean say from 2000 to 5500 they give more hp and torque thro that rev range compared to the mg metro. A couple that come to mind are evo1. ACDodd rs. Med rs. And maybe the graham Russell re13. Oh and the Kent 266. Any ideas on this. I have only used race cams. The mg metro is the only fast road I have used and realy happy with it. But looking at a spare short engine build

If you like the idea of a Russell cam have a look at Keith Calvers website http://www.calverst....-super-sports/. He sells them, I run one of his cams and I'm very pleased with it.

Hi I also run a Re13 cam and I am very very pleased with it. It has a wide spread of torque and is a pleasure to drive.
I think russel know what he is doing

Wonder if any dyno graphs around comparing these basic fast road cams. Makes you wonder if you would actually feel any difference over a mg metro ( I'm realy happy with the performance of the mg metro cam in my car) but hey gathering parts for short engine build soon

Any graph produced would be very useful as currently I'm running an MG Metro cam and recently added 1.5 rockers. Judging by recent comments by AC Dodd about more modern and efficient cams being available I'm looking to compare my set up against a SW5 or an Evolution001 cam.

I used to use the 266 in all my road builds, and then hit a wall in terms of power and torque. This is with stock a+rockers and a fully ported head by me.

Can I just throw it out there that it can be misleading to consider the Cam alone, especially when comparing Cams.

The Cam is only a part of the package that dictates the performance of any given engine combination.

One Cam that performs well in one engine is likely to not perform the same way in the next.

So, over a period of 10 years I developed my version of his cam, with less overlap lift less duration, but much more lobe lift. I called it the ACD - RS cam. The lower lines on the graph here represent before and after dyno tuning by myself. This engine used minisport 1.3 roller tip rockers.

This engine belongs to Kay from miniworld. It too features an RS cam this one uses a 1330 bottom end as above but only a 33mm inlet valve, and uses twin hs4 carbs and minisport 1.3roller tip rockers.
