Am I going too far?

I've put both on the car, with just the KAD quickshift it feels great and locating every gear is crisp and sharp. I've also tried adding the slickshift bias barrel and quite frankly, it's too tough! I loose all notion of the H pattern, I have no idea if I am selecting 1/2 or 3/4 and reverse is out of the question!

Is there any tweaks I can make to the slickshift? It feels as though the spring action is far too hard. There's seemingly no adjustment on it at all. I don't fancy knocking the roll pins out again to take it off as well. I can remove the grub screw for the time being and leave it on.

I was faced with the same problem many years ago, unless someone has come up with a solution since then you can fit one but not both.

Playing with it in the car I can almost get it where I can feel what I am doing. I've not driven it with either on yet so will see how it does on a drive out.  With just the KAD thing, it feels great. Wish I could drive one with just the bias selector.

Ok having gone on a longer drive it's not as bad as I thought. It's tight. Maybe the spring will let up after a while.

You could adjust the distance between the prongs and the rod. Minispares recommend 1mm each side.

Mine's definitely 1mm each side (and it's difficult now to change on the car). I measured with calipers before I finalized the install.

Honestly though, it's definitely serviceable with both installed. 3-2 shifting is quite difficult but I am sure I could get used to it. 3-4 and 4-3 is so unbelievably good. I am debating whether the 3-4 shifts are worth the 3-2 difficulty.

EDIT: Also, I can hear the spring prongs rattling against the rod. Not sure if that would put some people off.

Personally, I feel they could have been made with a bit of a weaker spring than they currently have in them (maybe that one suits stock shift levers better?) and have the spring ends sit on the rod, rather than have any clearance.

After trying one of these and then removing it, I actually found positive mounting of the shifter housing (so it can slide back & forth, but not roll) to be the biggest single improvement of any that I'd done.

I've seen how you've mounted yours Moke and it looks great. Lots of talk with me and my brother on how we go about making something similar. Would love to try it one day.

After doing about 50km on my current set up my only gripe is 3-2 shifts at speed. The 2nd gate is kind of difficult to find when you're aiming for a perfect downshift. Maybe I'll get used to it, maybe I wont and take it out.

I just know that hammering roll pins out is a pain in the arse and I don't want to do it for a while!
