Hi i have a mini with a Mg metro lump in it. it was running a tweaked 1000cc carb but was abt restrictive so ive brought a hif44 carb and tryed to fit it myself. now my car doesnt run well at all. it has an alloy mg intake and a LCB exhust apart from this its standard. can anyone recommend the correct size needle? also if anyone has a pic of this carb set up with all correct hoses etc id be very greatful.
many thanks
steve

hif44 is a bit big for a 1000cc really. try a bfy or bdl needle though

raid an mg metro or metro gta, shud have a good needle(BDL or BFY) tho if you've got a stg 1 kit too they'll stil be a little lean i rekon!! rolling road is best way to get it fuelling tip top!! dont want melty pistons! i'd have a look in my vizzard book but its all the way upstairs!! sorry!

as far as the carb goes take a picture and post it!! we'll let u know!! as long as it is the hif44 there shud only be 2 fuel chamber pipes!! the bottom one is fuel in and the top shud be a breather/overflow!!

ok try riching the idle mixture up a bit!! can be awkward even with a stumpy screw driver!!
with engine in front of you the back left hand corner of the carb will have a hole at an angle with a double flat head screw!
turn it clockwise 1/4 a turn, then give the throttle a flick, literally just for a 1/2 a second!!
if the revs drop its too lean! andother 1/4 turn on the screw,
if the revs take time to settle or go up once u release the throttle its too rich! and go 1/4 turn back!!
