Any help much appreciated as the rims are excellent and I wouldn't want a tyre fitter to make a mess removing or fitting tyres if there are any tips to pass on.
Thanks

Tyres are quite a personal choice depending on looks over sporty driving grip and the likes.
The only thing I would say is stay away from Falkens in 145 section if you drive in the wet, apparently the 165`s are a different compound but I have not wasted my money to find out and stay away from Camac`s unless you want half of your rim covered in balance weights.
A good point to note is that a lot of 10" tyres come with a label stating that the guarantee is void if they are machine fitted.
I pop the old ones off with the machine and then fit the new tyres with the wheel still clamped but by hand, occasionally a tap with a rubber hammer is needed just to finish off but most of the time the palm of my hand does the job.
I have witnessed the side walls reinforcement audibly creaking and breaking when others have machine fitted 10`s.
Personally I love Yoko`s and they generally don`t need a lot of balance weights.
The dunlop R7`s are good and period correct but at £96 each the Yoko`s are half that and probably better, its a shame they don`t make Kelly Springfield's any more.

Aren't Michelin doing a "new" 10" based on 50/60s designs?

You could check out Vintage tyres in Beaulieu in Hampshire. I've just done a quick search for 165/70x10 which I think were fitted to the 1100 special. The search came back with Dunlop aquajet SP sport which would be close to your original tyres!
They're fairly expensive though at £119 each inc VAT 😵
Cheers, Steve.

I ended up going with Yokos which look decent and seemed the best overall compromise
