I'm seriously thinking of ordering one for Benny for personal reasons as he's already exempt.
Thing that's putting me in a dilemma though is on their FAQ section, cars specifically Minis between 69 and 77 aren't guaranteed clarity.
I want this information otherwise why apply?! A dating letter isn't much cop either as that information is already on the v5c no?

Has anyone else applied for one? Was yours between these years? Would you say that it's worth £42?

I got one to prove manufacture was December 72 but registration January 1973 for historic vehicle tax. So in my case well worth it.

I got one back in 2000 for the same reason as Broomer, to prove build date so I could get historic vehicle status and get free roadtax.
Mines an april 73 registered mini 1000 saloon, built in november 72.
No other details on certificate other than model, chassis number and build date.

No, a dating letter gives you the actual build date which can be very different to the date of registration.

I've got my Morris minor one, it gives quite a lot of information being a '57.

I applied yesterday for my '72 clubman. Supplied Reg No., VIN and Commission number. We'll see what happens next. Couldn't include engine number as someone had put an 850 into it.

I tried to get one, but fell into the bracket of no records held between certain dates :(

I was thinking of ordering one to verify the original engine size but I'm glad I came across this post as mine is a 1972! I've just submitted an information request now which cost me only 6 pound!

I found that you have to really hunt through the vehicle options to drill down to the year that you're looking for. My Clubman of '72 wasn't listed in the main list.

I selected British- Leyland B then next page Mk3 mini and Clubman. Hope that helps.

Can you access the BMM records online yourself? Do you have a link? Thanks!

No, I just filled in the form as best I could and paid the money. I'm hoping it's going to come back with the original engine number and some other details.
