DSN Classics sell the proper tool for taking the inner pot joints out of the gearbox.
Or the cheating way is to cut off the band holding the rubber boot on and pull the driveshaft joint out of the cup.

i did this on my gta a few weeks ago!! id go with removing the cv gaitors from the cups then top ball joint on each side and tilting the hubs outwards this shud pull the shafts out more than enough to give engine clearance to exit!! if any of the balls fall out of the shafts they just pop back in!!
on another note why are you removing the engine from the metty turbo?? is it going in a mini and what are you doing whth the remaining shell if this is the case??

as for the driveshafts, is it gonna be difficult to do?

you can get the engine out and in without splitting the top balljoint but you have to be patient and jammy!

would prefer to take the engine out without the driver shafts attached, either way they are gonna have to come off, or will they fit straight into a mini?? its looking like i am gonna have to buy one of these tools/forks in order to get them out.

The pot joints will be ok for use in the mini, just cut the gaiter and pull the shafts out! and if you buy a ball joint splitter, by the scissor type and not the fork! the fork is a dodgy tool if you ask me because you're whacking some very critical bits with a lot of force!

or you could rock the engine sideways to pop them out.
