Sorry if this has been covered before , I tried a search.
I've taken my rear seats out of my '89 and got harnesses going through the back onto the seat belt mounts. Regarding the rear and the lack of seat belts, will this pass an MOT? Do you need seatbelts if there aren't any seats? What classes as a seat?

i have done the same and it didnt fail a mot although my mates cosworth failed because he had rear seats but the front seats did not recline to let passengers into the back and this caused him to fail.

Yer I would have thought you would be ok with passing the mot. If it fails you could always put the rear seat back in if you still have it and go back to the old seatbelts just for the mot and then change it all back after its passed. Bit of a bent way but hey!
