"This limited edition MINI is set to be a future classic. With its slick sports stripes running down the side and unique detailing throughout, it’s easy to see the racecar inspiration. It’s a celebration of the original sporty MINI – the 1275 GT. And comes with the same daring spirit, complete with modern John Cooper Works styling. But we’re only making 1,499 of them. Act fast to get your hands on a modern icon."

It's only a Bini when all's said and done.

Although when the original 1275GT was launched by BL as the replacement for the Mini Cooper (because Stokes refused to pay JC £2 a car) many said the 1275GT was just a Mini and a poor substitute for a real Cooper.........for years after  the 1275GT was the poor relation in Mini enthusiast circles and was only quite recently accepted by the MCR to have an official 'Register', sadly most of the early 10" wheel versions have long ago been scrapped but the 1275GT has finally become a sought after Mini for restoration with values increasing.

If it was based around the JCW platform, i'd have put a deposit down. Just seems based around the original cooper, not really that impressive.

The Piston Heads article makes some amusing comparisons.
