Pretty much all budget 1380's are built using them.

Haven't there been problems with the manufacture of them?

Don't minispares use AE ones now?

I am trying too do some research as well on this matter. I have spoken to the guys at Southam mini metro centre. They said that they used to use powermax pistons in their engine builds but due to the way in which they are constructed the oil ring is very close to the top. They have had cases where they have blown head gaskets and oil rings due too their construction.

They have moved on to using Omaga pistons in their engine builds. They are abit more expencive at £260 but Rob said it was well worth saving that bit more for these pistons.

I am saving abit more for these pistons and I hope this helps.

I'v just given my advice on advice I'd been given. I'm going for the Omega pistons on my engine build.

Size depends on what bore you have. If you are going for a 1380 you normally bore the block out to 73.5mm and these are the size pistons you need.

I am not sure on the turbo question. I hope this helps.

If I were you James, I'd go see morspeed and sort out a spec for what you want it to do. theres no point buying a set of pistons, then you may change your plans, and you've blown £260. By all sizes it means 1293/1330/1380 etc. It depends if you want to go turbo or n/a on pistons. For a 1380 n/a trackday car, you will want a high compression engine, and I would imagine those Omegas will be fine for that. For a 1380 turbo (which isnt particularly advisable) you need low compression - different head, different pistons.

cheers for that :gimme:

and i doubt ill ever turbo it i like the sounds of things that are N/A and still fast if i did owt it would have to be throttle bodies :gimme:

i dont really ever have the time to go to morspeed as im always working or have college :'(

i deffo know im wanting to build a 1380 so i think ill go for these pistons then will probs order them tomoz incase anyone else replies to this and knows anything else about them

cheers :gimme:
