Hi, I trying to Identify an engine which has no number.

I beleive it is a 1275 A+ but thats about as far as I have got.

The head I would like to identify aswell but this did not come with the engine.

Heres the info I have gathered:

Piston Top (slighty dished) Number: X21019 M11
Crankshaft (looking through the fuel pump hole): BS38AX N1E

Gearbox: DAM 5626, A/B Z2 , BC&M
Speedo housing: DAM 5218
Diff Cover : DAM 0133
Diff green sticker: RM 18/62 No 067881

The Head : 12G940
1.4" Inlet
1.15" Exhaust
21K5

Is there anything else I can check? Can you tell me anything about it? Thanks

gearbox, std A+

Head sounds like MG metro (picitures would be nice)

The pistons are not std lc pistons, so may possibly suggest either an MG, VPD or GTA engine..

Does this head look OK? Bit of surface rust.

There are a few scratches on this cylinder, al the rest look perfect. Is this a problem?

looks to me like the head has had a bit of work.

the chambers look like they have had some polishing and the exhaust valves dont look like the standard exhaust valves from a MG metro.

I might be worng though

How can you tell its modified? I'm new to cylinder heads ect... so I would like to know exactly whats been done. Do you think its suitable for the engine? Do I have to check the compression ratio? (And how do you do that?) Thanks

MG Metro

Theres the oil to water cooler and the long bolt filter housing to match.

But then some one may ave just fitted them.

You need to identify the cam as MG to be sure

Ooh and the sticker is still on the diff housing too, 3.44:1

Also looks like the block has been modded for 5/16th box fixings

But It mentions in the BK450 description that there is a replacement for the metro which has an O ring fitted on the rocker supply gallery.

Doesnt mean much to me, just want to make sure I get the right one.
